Urgent Donate for victims of Assam Floods
Assam is in crisis today, the floods are wreaking havoc.
Hailing from Assam, it pains to see my state in peril every year. I have experienced this since childhood and it is only getting worse. It is heartbreaking to see the helplessness and the plight of those affected. The extent of the devastation is so huge yet it fails to gather attention and support.
The Indian state of Assam experiences heavy monsoon floods every year with the least support from media & government. Every year the floods render countless victims which include humans and animals alike. Homes destroyed, people destitute, animals stranded; this is today and this is a national emergency. Monsoon has just set foot in Assam and this deluge has already affected the lives of nearly 43 lakh people, with a rising death toll currently standing at 36. 95% of the Kaziranga National Park is submerged, 30 out of 33 districts have been massively affected.
The states of Assam have been struck by massive floods, and a lot of lives are in danger.
The floods have widely damaged houses, farmlands, schools, bridges and road links, thereby bringing the region to a halt. Hundreds of villages are underwater and thousands of families are forced to take shelter on roads, highways, and schools.
The state stands in urgent need of support from the entire nation to recover from the immense damage to life.
